The Client

The client an AOPA executive needs pre and post flight activities to be more user friendly so pilots want to spend more time flying.

The Pilot – Needs Statement #1

Mary an experienced pilot needs to make flight preparation more streamlined so she can spend more time flying.

The Co-Pilot – Needs Statement #2

Louise a co-pilot needs her flight related experiences to be more accessible and engaging so her time spent flying is more rewarding.

The Five Big Ideas – Based on Statement #2

  1. An app that updates estimated arrival times based on GPS readings and weather updates.
  2. A website/app that shows popular activities at input destinations including business hours and user reviews.
  3. A website/app that chooses a destination based on user input activities they are looking for upon arriving at their destination.
  4. A website/app that checks availability of services at a given destination and tentatively books them.
  5. An app that creates abstract waypoints in the air at different altitudes and GPS coordinates to follow during flight over interesting locations, keeping the flight itself the primary experience and landing back home.

The Solution – Based on Big Idea #5

After takeoff, the mobile app would calculate a random waypoint path based on non-restricted airspace over popular locations within fuel range based on Google travel/trips. Way point placement would further be randomized at different altitudes and distances apart but calculated within the capabilities of the selected airframe with difficulty adjustments between 10% and 70% of the airframe thrust maximum to ensure an entertaining flight.
